50 Articles Published on Suite101. Check!

3.10.2010

I am so excited! Lately, as you may have previously read, I've been talking about wanting to get to 50 articles on Suite101 so I can start receiving the 10% bonus and I finally made it! I just published my 50th article about 2 minutes ago!

I have added 6 articles to Suite101 since March 7th and I'm finally at 50 articles. It feels like such a relief, even though I know my work isn't finished. It's always fun meeting goals and crossing milestones. I have published 33 articles since the 2nd week of January 2010. I only wrote 17 articles in the 9 months I wrote for Suite in 2009!

My next long term goal for Suite101 is getting to 100 articles. I haven't set a goal date for that yet, but I'll be thinking about it. Participating in the 15-in-15 challenge for March would get me on my way, that's for sure. Though I still haven't fully decided if I'll be tackling that this time around. Still pondering. :)

All the best,

Melinda

3/7 Weekly Update: Suite101 & Niche Blogging

3.07.2010

In my previous weekly update, I had said I wanted to try my best to get up to 50 articles at Suite. I'm STILL 4 articles short. It was a busy week since I did have to work PT at my outside-of-the-home job and we had all 4 of our children. The good news is that I did get some work done, just not as much as I would've liked. Seems to be the story of my life for me every other week.

Suite101

Like stated above, I'm still 4 articles shy of 50 meaning that I now have 46 published articles over at Suite101. With that being said, even though I didn't get to 50 (yet!), I still managed to publish 5 new articles.

Suite recently announced that they will be having a 15 in 15 challenge during this month. I haven't fully decided on if I'm going to pursue it, but I do like a challenge. Even if I don't exactly meet the challenge, it still helps to get a bunch of articles published that may not have been otherwise and that's nothing to complain about. I'll ponder my decision this week.

Niche Blogging

I started a niche blog right around February 12th. The first post was on the 12th, but I'm sure I had set it up a day or two prior. After less than 1 month and no promotion whatsoever, it's listed on the 5th page of Google results for the primary keyword phrase and it only has 5 posts on it right now.

About 2 weeks ago, I outsourced a few blog posts for a couple of my blogs and managed to schedule two blogs to post content for the next 4-5 weeks. I plan on building up even more posts so I won't have to worry about content for a bit and can then focus on marketing and building backlinks. I plan on promoting them first with article marketing and I will be outsourcing those articles as well.

Ehow Earnings

Just an extra little tidbit I wanted to add...Ehow earnings are looking MUCH better this month over last month and I haven't published any new articles yet. While some people may have complaints about the site, I have my own reasons for writing there and the extra money I continue to receive each month is just one of them! I'm forever grateful for having read, "How to Earn Passive Income at Ehow.com: Residual Income for Web Content Writers". It was written by a very successful Ehow writer who wanted to share her success (& tips) with others looking to create a residual income home business for themselves.

Goals for the Upcoming Week

  • Write at least 4 Suite101 articles to get to 50!
  • Schedule at least 1 full month's of content on another niche blog
  • Complete 7 Ehow article drafts - they will be expiring within the next week or 2 so I'd like to just get them knocked off my list this week
Whew! I better get busy!

All the Best,

Melinda =)

Monthly Earnings Report - February 2010

3.04.2010

Here it is - my very first earnings report here on the Residual Income Home Business blog! The only income I will be tracking here are those from residual income sources. Residual income is money that keeps coming in days, months and years after initial work was completed. So basically that will include earnings from Ehow and Suite101. I could probably include Adsense as well, but for right now I will not be.

Even though I'm currently working to get my earnings at Ehow & Suite101 higher, I still continue to earn each month whether I write new content or not.

Ehow

I haven't been concentrating on Ehow much lately, but I did add 3 new articles during the month of February, giving me a total of 216 articles. These 216 articles are spread out over 2 Ehow accounts. I don't really know why. My main account has 201 articles. Only 1 of those 3 new articles actually started earning money during February. My combined earnings for these 216 articles were $186.19.

Suite101

Suite101 is where I'm actually concentrating most of my residual income efforts. I'm earning more per article there than I am at Ehow currently, but I still love the Ehow payment I continue to receive every month so I'll still be adding some content there.

Anyway, during the month of February I managed to write 18 new articles for Suite101. My earnings for Suite were just over $35 for the month of February. Even though I now have 43 articles, 2 of those were added in March (so they don't count) and 10 of the articles were published during the last week of February and I'm still not far from earning $1 per article for the month. Not bad!

One thing that might be worth noting here is that of my 43 articles over at Suite, 24 of them have been added this year alone. I was first accepted at Suite in the Spring of '09 but didn't start writing regularly there until January 2010. I wish I had started sooner! :)

*Combined Residual Income Home Business Earnings for February: $221.19.

My long term goal is to earn $1,000 per month in residuals. I'm working towards getting to that point by December 31, 2010.

For the shorter term, I'd like to be earning at least $500 per month in residuals by June 30, 2010. I'm just about halfway to this point and it's the beginning of March so I think I have plenty of time. I'll be focusing mainly on Suite1o1 with the occasional additions to the Ehow site.

And that concludes my very first residual income home business earnings report!

All the best,

Melinda

2/28 Weekly Update: Niche Blogs, Ehow, Suite101

2.28.2010

I had a very productive week this week! I added quite a few articles to my residual income home business - mainly over at Suite101, but I also managed to outsource a few blog posts and begin a brand new niche blog. Like I had mentioned in my last weekly update, most of my time was spent writing articles for Suite101.

Ehow

I'm currently at 201 articles over at Ehow. I published 3 articles and still have 5 or 6 that I'll be finishing up this week. Earnings aren't in over there for yesterday yet, but they're already a little higher than January so I'm very pleased about that!

Suite101

During this past week, I didn't quite make my goal of getting to 50 articles, but I did manage to add 10 new articles in 7 days. Not too shabby. For the entire month of February, I managed to write 18 articles there and I haven't written close to that many in just one month there before. My page views have increased dramatically and my earnings are up a bit over January's as well.

Niche Blogging

I did start a new niche blog this past week and was able to write a few posts for it as well. It only took about 2 days to get indexed by Google. Woohoo!

Monthly Earnings Report Update

I'll be posting the earnings report for my residual income home business tomorrow (3/2) because some of the earnings reports aren't finalized until later today or early tomorrow on the sites I write for.

Plans for Next Week

In the coming week, I plan to get 9 articles submitted to Suite to get up to 50 articles. I do have to work at my PT job 2 days this week and we will have all the kids, but I'm going to try my hardest to meet this goal. I already have keywords, it's just a matter of getting all the articles written. Also, I plan to finish up the drafts I started over at Ehow. I also wouldn't mind starting a new niche blog, but that might have to wait until next week because I really want to get the Suite article count up to 50 so I can start getting the 10% bonus.

I hope you're having a fabulous weekend!

All the best,

Melinda

2/21 Weekly Update: Ehow, Suite 101 & Niche Blogging

2.22.2010

This past week was fairly pathetic as far as residual income goes. Not so much in terms of my earnings, but in terms of getting work done. I had all the kids this week (4!) and I also worked two full days this week at my "other job". I'm also an administrative assistant and I work about 15 hours every other week to supplement our income.

Ehow

I managed to do some keyword research for some Ehow articles and I came up with 6 new articles. I put them all into Ehow so I was able to save the titles and I've only finished 1 of them so far. Again, my goal for February was 2 and I have written 3 so far so I can't be unhappy with that. All of them will be fairly easy to write and won't take up too much time because I've already done the research.

Suite101

With Suite101, I also only managed finishing 1 article this past week. Like Ehow though, I did a lot of keyword research in order to get a bunch of ideas down so I could get to 50 articles by the end of February. I'm currently at 32 articles, so I need to publish 18 more. I have plenty of titles ready, now I just need to write.

Niche Blogging

I managed to write up 4 posts for my niche blogs. This isn't exceptional at all. Next week I'm planning on outsourcing the writing for one of those blogs and I hope to be able to do more of that in the future. I like the idea of outsourcing the writing of blog posts so that I can concentrate on residual income sites like Ehow and Suite101.

HubPages

I had an interesting experience with Hubpages this week. Some guy flagged one of my articles because he felt it was too promotional. So naturally Hubpages emailed me about it, as did the original flagger. The actual guy wrote me telling me that everything I had written was in violation of the Hubpages Terms of Service, which it clearly wasn't. I simply re-published it for Hubpages to review and it was published again the very same day. The article was a review of a fitness supplement and it wasn't favorable in any way. I simply mentioned facts about it. Why do people waste precious time being ridiculous?

I know that the coming week again will prove to be a busy one for me. With my eldest in school and just having our 22-month-old at home during the day, I'll be able to get a lot more done next week.

How I Started my Residual Income Home Business

2.17.2010

I wasn't familiar with residual income until I began reading one of the threads in the WAHM forum about Ehow. In June, 2008 I began writing for Ehow. This was the very first revenue sharing website I wrote for. Shortly after starting there, I purchased Maria's Ebook. Maria, also known as "Writergig" on Ehow, makes over $,1000 a month from her Ehow articles. Her ebook really taught me how to make Ehow as lucrative as possible and my earnings have increased because of it.

You can read more about what I think of Maria's ebook, including how my earnings increased after reading and learning from it!

Now I write for a few other revenue sharing websites because I feel it's important to have several sources of income in case one were to fall off the face of the earth. Let's face it...if Ehow went out of business or something happened to their site, that recurring income would be gone. I do have copies of all of my articles saved, but still...those earnings would be gone and I'd basically have to start over with those articles.

Ehow continues to be my largest paycheck from a revenue sharing site each month, but I have also written the most articles there. In fact, I just hit 200 today after my last 2 articles were finally published. Currently though, I'm actually earning more per article with Suite101, where I have 31 articles published as of today.

If you have any interest in writing for revenue sharing websites, I highly recommend Maria's ebook, "How to Earn Passive Income at Ehow.com: Residual Income for Web Content Writers". What she writes does apply to Ehow, but the techniques mentioned inside it can also be applied to other residual income websites.

*And if you're wondering if the ebook is worth buying, I was able to make back that money within the first month of Ehow earnings after applying what I learned. It's good stuff!

I hope you're having a great week!

All the best,

Melinda

2/14 Weekly Update: Ehow, Suite101 & Niche Blogging

2.14.2010

This past week has been a bit busy and I was able to check off quite a few things off of my to-do list! I'm continuing to see my Suite101 earnings go up. I haven't had a $0.00 day in some time now. It's always a great feeling when you actually start to earn SOMETHING every day.

Ehow

My goal for Ehow, was to write 2 new articles during the month of February. I met that goal because I published 2 this past week. I thought about doing more this month, but it's been almost 5 days since I wrote those two articles and they haven't been published yet. I hope Ehow works out all of their quirks soon. I really love writing there, but things have been a bit crappy there lately. Earnings are all right, but the whole UK thing and articles being stuck in limbo without an explanation is pretty annoying.

*Update (2/17): Ehow published my 2 articles today, now I'm at 200!

Suite101

The goal I set regarding Suite101 originally, was to have 50 articles written by my birthday, which is March 25th. That gives me plenty of time, but recently in the forums over there, an unofficial challenge is starting next week where participating writers will be working towards publishing 20 articles in one week. All the details can be found there so I won't get into it here. I am participating in that and right now for Suite I have 30 articles written, so I just need 20 to get to my goal of 50. Now my goal has changed to 50 articles by the end of February! I wrote 5 articles there this past week but I think it's totally doable to do 20 in 7 days.

Niche Blogging

Last year I began creating niche blogs as a way to earn residual income. Even though niche blogs aren't entirely passive, I still like the fact that you can earn money on posts that are months or even years old. I don't think updating them is real tough either, I tend to publish one to two posts per week, per niche blog. This past week I was able to update 3 blogs and create 1 new niche blog.

If you are interested in niche blogging, I highly recommend The Niche Blogger program offered by Amy Bass.

Free Niche Blogger Report - How Amy Bass earns $5,000 a Month Niche Blogging and How You Can Do It Too!

She worked her way up to earning $5,000 a month by creating niche blogs. She is the reason I got started. She offers a free 3 day trial where you have access to everything you need for the first 30 days. It really is FREE. You can cancel anytime within those 3 days and you will never ever be billed. Plus you'll have a great introduction to niche blogging because the 3 day trial allows you to see the first 30 days (1 month) of content. Everything is written out in a step-by-step, easy to follow guide.

Next week I will be concentrating on niche blogging and the following week will be all about Suite!

All the best,

Melinda
